Respect on and off the Dance Floor

Floorcraft and Accidents

Be aware of the dancers around you and look out for your dance partner. Accidental collisions can happen, even to the most experienced dancers. If you bump into someone, please apologize sincerely and take extra care to avoid similar situations in the future.

Respect Personal Boundaries

You might enjoy playful dips, lifts, or other dynamic moves with a regular dance partner, but not everyone is comfortable with them. Always respect your partner's individual boundaries and pay attention to both verbal and nonverbal cues. In general there is no place for such crazy moves on a social dance floor. If you're unsure whether a move is welcome, simply ask. Never assume consent.

Communication and Saying No

You are never obligated to accept an invitation to dance, and saying “no” is always okay. Equally, receiving a “no” is part of social dancing. No explanation is required, and a refusal should always be accepted gracefully. Please don't take it personally; there can be many reasons why someone doesn't feel like dancing at a particular moment.

Feedback on the Dance Floor

Social dancing is primarily about connecting, relaxing, and having fun. Feedback and technical corrections are generally better suited to classes or private lessons, where people come specifically to learn. If you would like to offer someone feedback during a social dance, ask first whether they are open to receiving it. If they decline, please respect their decision.

Alcohol and Other Substances

Alcohol and other substances can affect your judgment, coordination, and awareness of others. Please consume responsibly and make sure your behavior never compromises anyone else's comfort, safety, or well-being.

Flirting and Intimacy

Close dancing does not imply romantic or sexual interest. A dance is simply a shared moment on the dance floor, and it should never be interpreted as an invitation to anything more. If you are interested in someone, approach them respectfully outside the dance itself. Always respect their boundaries and accept their response without pressure.

Inclusion and Zero Tolerance for Harassment

We welcome everyone who wants to be part of our community, regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, skin color, religion, age, disability, physical appearance, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, dance experience, or any other personal characteristic.

We are committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming environment. Discrimination, harassment, intimidation, threats, and other behavior that makes people feel unsafe or unwelcome will not be tolerated.

Treat everyone with kindness and respect. If your behavior causes others to feel threatened, harassed, or excluded, we will take it seriously. Anyone who repeatedly or seriously violates these principles may be asked to leave the festival.

Health and Well-Being

If you feel unwell, particularly if you have symptoms of a potentially contagious illness, please stay home and refrain from attending the festival. This helps protect the health and well-being of all participants.

Personal Belongings

Please take responsibility for your personal belongings and keep them secure. The festival organizers cannot be held responsible for items that are lost, stolen, or damaged.

Looking Out for Each Other

Our community should be a place where everyone feels safe and supported. Please look out for one another. If someone seems uncomfortable, distressed, or in an unsafe situation, consider checking in with them and asking whether they need help.

If you experience or witness harassment, inappropriate behavior, or any situation that raises concerns about someone's safety, please let us know.

You can contact a member of the festival organizing team at the check-in or entrance desk, at the bar, near the DJ booth, or by approaching a staff member elsewhere at the venue. Our staff members can be identified by their staff name tags.

Reporting Inappropriate Behavior

If you experience or witness inappropriate behavior, please contact a festival staff member as soon as possible. We will treat all reports seriously, handle them as discreetly and confidentially as possible, and respond with appropriate urgency.

You do not have to deal with an uncomfortable or unsafe situation alone. We are here to help.

Consequences of Violating the Code of Conduct

Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in consequences, including a warning, removal from the festival without refund, exclusion from future events, or, where appropriate, involvement of local law enforcement. The response will depend on the nature and severity of the behavior.

By participating in the festival, you agree to respect this Code of Conduct and contribute to a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Let's look out for each other, respect one another's boundaries, and make this festival a wonderful experience for the entire community.

Thank you for being part of our community. We look forward to sharing the dance floor with you!
